Creative Access and Radiocentre host virtual Audio Masterclass

Young people from all kinds of backgrounds and across the UK are invited to hear from experts and well-known presenters all about how to make a career in the media industry.

Taking place at 5pm on Thursday 17 September, Radiocentre, the industry body for commercial radio and Creative Access are hosting a free virtual masterclass on all things audio. Industry professionals from across the radio and audio world will be sharing details of how they started out in the industry and what their top tips are for young audio lovers, as well as answering questions from attendees.

The event will be hosted by Global’s Margherita Taylor, who currently broadcasts on Classic FM and Smooth Radio. She also spent five years on-air at Heart and almost two decades at Capital.  Alongside her radio career she has presented TV shows for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4’s T4 and can currently be found hosting Countryfile and Escape to the Country. She began her career 27 years ago after winning a competition to find a new presenter for a local radio station in Birmingham.

Margherita will moderate a panel including KISS presenter AJ King, who won the Kiss Chosen One competition in 2011, news reporter Pria Rai (BBC Asian Network, Newsbeat and wider BBC News), and podcaster, producer and consultant Leanne Ali.

Radiocentre has hosted a series of Masterclasses in the past, including last month’s Young Audio Masterclass with KISS FM’s Swarzy Macaly, Capital Xtra’s Remel London, BBC Radio 2 producer Rozeena Barnard and Darby Dorras, a producer at agency Somethin’ Else. Creative Access and Radiocentre have also previously hosted masterclasses with the BBC, most recently in both Salford and London at the famous Radio Theatre.
