WATCH: Radiocentre sums up work during the pandemic in new video

Commercial radio has played an integral role in keeping the nation going over the last few months. So we’ve been working harder than ever to proudly represent these amazing stations. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.

Radiocentre’s new video summarises in less than 90 seconds how radio has supported listeners during a turbulent year, as well as how the industry body has supported its members, from the beginning of lockdown to the first signs of ‘normality’.

Initiatives mentioned in the video include:

  • Seven livestreamed events with 8,000 viewers, including industry-specific Tuning In conferences and the Young Audio Awards
  • Ad campaigns to promote radio
  • New research and reports into listening during lockdown, radio effectiveness for FMCG advertising, pent-up consumer demand, and how radio is a force for good.
  • Policy work, including reaching an agreement with Arqiva on transmission costs, relaxing Ofcom rules, and securing 10-year licence renewals

The video also includes historic cross-industry broadcasts, with this year’s Mental Health Minute reaching more than 20 million listeners, and the 60 Second Support series, which supported listeners’ wellbeing with advice and tips from a range of professionals and experts.

Radiocentre has also supported advertisers and sales teams, with the coronavirus hub, filled with resources including the Rescue Remedy document, Radio Bites series and new training app, which is currently in pilot phase, all featuring in the video.
