Free Trials

Because the BCAP Code requires ads to make clear the extent of the commitment consumers must make in order to take advantage of any “free” offer, references to “free trials” must be accompanied by qualification of that commitment at the end of the trial, e.g. “auto-renews at £5 a month”, “then £5 a month unless cancelled” or similar. Both the cancellation requirement and the ongoing cost must be included.
