Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery may be advertised. Advertisers must be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Other organisations may be able to advertise, subject to demonstration of their “suitable credentials” as listed in BCAP Code rule 11.9.

Any claims need to be supported by satisfactory evidence and may be referred to Radiocentre’s medical consultant/s.

Surgeries for weight loss, such as liposuction, may not be advertised in programming likely to appeal particularly to under 18s.

For facial treatments not involving surgery, the description “non-surgical face lift” is not acceptable on the grounds that these treatments do not have an effect comparable to that of a surgical procedure.

Advertisements for cosmetic procedures must not suggest the decision to have surgery is a trivial one.
