Beauty Salons & Treatments

Advertisers must confirm their clinicians’ professional qualifications and also provide the “suitable credentials” as listed in BCAP Code Rule 11.9.

In the absence of comprehensive evidence, claims may need to take the form of “can help…” etc.

Radiocentre may need to seek independent medical advice from its consultant/s on the efficacy and safety of a treatment or device. For such cases, Radiocentre needs information arising from clinical trials or published reports in reputable medical journals, not website content, public relations material or consumer testimonials.

Some treatments are reliant on prescription-only medicines (POMs), such as Botox. POMs are a prohibited category and cannot be advertised, either directly or indirectly. An ad which states “we offer a wide range of dermal fillers and injectables” would not be acceptable if the only non-filler injectable they offer is a POM.
