IV Drip Treatments

The ASA holds advice on the advertising of Vitamin Drip Therapies.

Any health claims regarding the drip therapies must be supported by robust clinical evidence, i.e. blinded, randomised, placebo-controlled trials published in reputable peer-reviewed medical journals.

Drip therapies must not be promoted as a hangover cure, which would be a contravention of rule 19.2 of the BCAP code regarding the promotion of excessive drinking.

Further, no medicinal claims can be made for vitamin drip therapies unless they hold a valid medicinal license.

No treatments that involve a prescription-only medicine may be advertised. Some vitamin treatments, such as B12, are prescription only.
