Total radio reach is now 90% or 48.7m, RAJAR’s Q4 2016 figures reveal

Today RAJAR announced that 48.7 million adults, or 90% of the adult* UK population tuned into their selected radio stations each week in the fourth quarter of 2016. This is up by approximately 445,000 adults on the same Quarter of the previous year (Q4, 2015).

The average number of total hours of weekly radio listening for this quarter is 1.049 billion.

Other key figures in the data released today include the following:

  • Commercial radio reaches 35 million people each week (34.957m)
  • BBC reaches 35.2m people each week (35.197m)
  • Commercial radio’s share of hours is 43.9%
  • BBC share of hours is 53.5%
  • Total digital listening is 45.2%
