Radiocentre welcomes plan to shorten Ts & Cs in radio ads

Radiocentre has welcomed a new cross-party report that is recommending a different approach to terms and conditions in radio ads after Brexit.

The Red Tape Initiative (RTI) report has proposed that radio and audio ads be exempt from the full terms of the Consumer Credit Directive in future, with consumers simply directed to a website for more information. This is a potentially significant development in Radiocentre’s long-term campaign to tackle terms and conditions in radio ads.

The RTI is an influential cross-party group led by Sir Oliver Letwin MP and has published 37 proposals to cut bureaucracy when the UK leaves the EU. This list are seen as ‘quick wins’ that will carry broad political support.

Siobhan Kenny, Chief Executive at Radiocentre, said:

“A new approach to Ts and Cs at the end of radio ads is long overdue. We hope these proposals will be taken seriously by Government and help make radio ads both easier on the ear and more effective for consumers.”
