Latest Aerial Award winner announced

The winner of December’s Aerial Award is McDonald’s with their Overnight: Greg and Sean campaign. With previous Aerial awards under their belt, McDonald’s is a brand with a great reputation for creativity across radio.

Radiocentre’s Head of Creative Development Clare Bowen said, “research shows that radio can be an especially effective medium for retail brands. However, the creative construct in the category is often little more than a blunt, offer-led message, with little care given to brand-building and story-telling. McDonalds are a notable exception. They always charm and entertain with a well-written narrative to entertain the listener, signed off with the longstanding ‘I’m lovin’ it’ sonic, giving the listener an easy shorthand to the brand. At Radiocentre, we’re lovin’ it too”.

This month’s Aerial Award judge was Ben Tollett, Executive Creative Director at Adam & Eve/DDB, who said the ad brought real life through a humorous filter. Ben thought the creative showed the ‘power of a great script, and a super bit of voice casting’. He also encouraged creatives to See Radio Differently. You can read how here.

The winning team behind the ad was Graham Lakeland and Richard Robinson, creatives at Leo Burnett.
