Radiocentre at Cannes Lions

The third week in June is an important one in the Adland calendar: it’s Cannes Lions – the international festival of creativity where the best work from around the world is awarded and celebrated.

For Radiocentre, Cannes Lions is an opportunity to gain a global perspective of radio and the wider world of advertising creativity and media trends. Monday night saw the Radio Lions announced, with 2 Gold Lions awarded to Ogilvy & Mather for the Dove ‘Self-conscious’ campaign and a Bronze Lion to J Walter Thompson for Katkat ‘Christmas Break’.

The Grand Prix went to Ogilvy & Mather Johannesburg for KFC ‘The Everyman Meal’. Radiocentre’s Head of Creative Developmemt, Clare Bowen and Client Director, Lucy Barrett have been on the Croisette meeting the radio Jury and other industry figures. Some of them have agreed interviewed them to be part of our Cannes podcast.
First up is Jo McCrostie, creative director at Global who was one of two UK judges on the radio jury who has a string of Radio Lions to her name.

Tom Eymundson was the President of the Radio jury and has a voice we could listen to all day. Clare managed to grab him to a quiet terrace to talk about his experiences of leading the jury, on getting into the radio industry and why innovation isn’t everything.
