New Chair for APPG on Commercial Radio announced

Mims Davies (Member of Parliament for Eastleigh) has accepted the role of Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Commercial Radio.

Mims, an MP since 2015, is a former Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and has a background in radio. Having worked both for commercial radio and the BBC as a presenter and journalist before entering politics, Mims brings a wealth of experience to the role of Chair of the APPG.

Commenting, Mims Davies said: “I’m delighted to Chair the Commercial Radio APPG. Commercial radio is a fantastic medium that provides a great mix of music, entertainment and news to millions of listeners every day. Commercial stations are at the heart of their local communities and the public value provided by the industry should not be underestimated. I’ve presented, researched, and programmed radio shows – dealing with everything from music to news to travel updates, so it is a pleasure to make use of these experiences here in Westminster. I’m looking forward to an exciting programme of events across the year ahead and to working with the industry body for commercial radio in the UK, Radiocentre, whom I have already had meetings with this week to discuss the best agenda moving forward.”
