Minister offers reassurance after the reshuffle

Radiocentre attended the first public engagement from Matt Hancock MP in his capacity as Minister for Digital and Culture last week (20 July).

Speaking to the UK advertising industry at the Advertising Association’s summer reception, the Minister provided some initial words of reassurance. He stressed the importance of strong creative industries and the importance of Britain remaining a global hub for advertising talent and excellence. He also spoke of the significance of self-regulation and embedding practice that supported the legal, truthful, honest and decent approach to advertising.

The Minister stated that his initial efforts would focus on ways to ensure that the UK secured a strong relationship with Europe (urging the creative sector to highlight key priorities), as well as identifying opportunities outside the EU.

Radiocentre will be feeding into the creative industries submissions regarding Brexit and is looking forward to working with Matt Hancock and the DCMS team on radio and broadcasting issues in the coming months.
