Classic FM, the UK’s biggest classical music radio station, is bringing its acclaimed concert Classic FM Live to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff for the very first time, on Monday 12th March 2012.
As part of the station’s 20th Anniversary celebrations next year, Classic FM Live promises to be an evening of the greatest classical music of all time and stunning performances from internationally renowned musicians, hosted by Classic FM presenters John Suchet and Margherita Taylor.
The first class line-up features the Philharmonia Orchestra alongside a host of star soloists including young violinist Chloé Hanslip and the premiere of a brand new work composed and conducted by Welshman Karl Jenkins. More star name performers from both inside and outside Wales will be announced in the New Year.

Classic FM’s Managing Director Darren Henley said: “We are thrilled to announce our first ever Classic FM Live in Wales, as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary. It will be a fantastic celebration of the finest classical music performed by the brightest musicians from Wales and beyond. We are looking forward to a night to remember.”
Welsh Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage, Huw Lewis, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to support Classic FM in bringing this event to Wales. This will be the first time that Classic FM Live has been held outside London since it began in 2000. The event provides a great platform for raising the profile of Welsh musicians and we are keen to work with the organisers to maximise these opportunities. Classic FM Live will combine the very best in international performers with the very best talents in Welsh classical music. This will be a fantastic showcase for Wales.”
