BBC Local News Partnership Update

The Licence Fee programme to invest up to £8m a year into local journalism moves one step closer as registration for the initiative opens on Monday May 15. For those not familiar with the initiative which aims to support local news organisations, further information is available here as well as an explanatory blog here which explains a little more about the programme.

Any news local news organisation which wants to benefit from the News Hub, Shared Data Unit or Local Democracy Reporters must meet the editorial standards outlined in Section 1 of the Eligibility Criteria. This should include all commercial radio operators. Further guidance notes on the application process are available here.

Those wishing to utilise the service need to register directly with the BBC. Registration opens on Monday 15th May and closes at noon on Friday 26th May. Applications need to be made via the BBC Procurement supplier portal here. Once on the website you’ll need to register and then click on ‘current opportunities’ which is located at the top left-hand corner of the page.
